According to data from animal protection NGOs, it is estimated that over 30 million animals are abandoned in the country — including both dogs and cats. The reasons vary: from unwanted litters to address changes, financial crises, or, sadly, pure neglect.

It’s estimated that over 30 million animals are living on the streets — a reflection of negligence, the lack of effective public policies, and often the impulsive, irresponsible actions of guardians who don’t consider the long-term commitment of adopting a pet. In times of economic crisis, this reality becomes even worse: struggling families abandon their companions because they can no longer afford food or basic care. The result? Overloaded shelters, NGOs operating with limited resources, and an increasing number of animals exposed to hunger, disease, and abuse.
